The Rousanou Monastery was built in 1545 by Maximos and Ioasaph of Ioannina and it is dedicated to St.Barbara. It is believed that the name Rousanou is believed to come from the first group of monks who settled on the rock from Russia. A winch hoisted up provisions and people in a net.
