Tobar Dherbhile canvas
Although Ireland boast with a plethora of megalithic sites stemming from their millennia-old Celtic heritage, the site at Faulmore stems from the 6th-century. Local legend has it that the young Irish lass, Dherbhile, was so troubled by having to look at her staggering beauty every day that she took to blinding herself to avoid that fate. After her self-imposed martyrdom she went on to live out her days in peace as a humble nun in the wild countryside that is North Mayo in west Ireland.
