One of the most famous and most photographed churches on Mykonos is the Church of Panagia Paraportiani. This Greek Orthodox church dedicated to the Virgin Mary is very unique. Construction of thee two-story church is an asymmetrical blending of four churches into one. These formed the base for the 5th church. The church dates back to the middle of the 15th century. Its name comes from the word door because is was once right next to the entrance of the Medieval castle that was located here.
