The View From Caversham Bridge picture board
The view standing on Caversham Bridge, Reading, looking downstream on a bright and sunny afternoon. On the left a boat is moored at Pipers Island - the third smallest named island on the Thames. A little further on is De Montfort Island or Fry's Island, the scene of a trial by combat between Robert de Montfort and Henry of Essex in 1163. We can also see The Blade, Reading's tallest office block and the tall towers of some new flats by the railway station.
