The Hawes Inn at sunset canvas
View of the Hawes Inn, a late 17th century coaching inn, situated almost under the Forth Rail Bridge in South Queensferry in Scotland. The writer Robert Louis Stevenson is said to have been staying in room 13 in 1886 when he came up with the idea of ‘Kidnapped’ and started writing the novel there. Indeed, the Hawes Inn features in the story as the place where the kidnapping of the hero, David Balfour, was arranged. Image taken at sunset from Hawes Pier.
