Hastings East Cliff Railway print
The East Cliff Railway in Hastings had it''''s Grand Opening April 9 1903 & is currently Britain’s steepest 1:1.128. The upper station of the funicular railway, sometimes mistaken by visitors for Hastings Castle, housed large water tanks which worked the lift on a water balance principle. The black wooden sheds in the foreground were built to house nets and keep fishing gear dry.
