Mont Blanc: The roof of Europe canvas
At 4,810 m, Mont Blanc is the highest peak in the EU. It was first climbed in 1786 by Jacques Balmat and Michel-Gabriel Paccard, effectively ushering in the age of Alpine mountaineering. The town of Chamonix at around 1000m elevation can be seen in the bottom right of the image. To give a perspective of scale you could comfortably fit in 4 burj al khalifas (the world’s tallest building) stacked on top of another in that valley there and that would almost reach the summit of Mont Blanc.
