Church of St Lawrence Hungerford canvas
St Lawrence church is on the banks of the Kennet and Avon Canal in the town of Hungerford, West Berkshire. This is the view after crossing the adjacent swing bridge. The church was built in 1816 to replace the earlier one which had collapsed and this building was further restored in the later 1800s. The Bath stone used in its construction was transported on the canal. Reminding us of its long history the church contains the 14th century effigy of Robert de Hungerford.
