The tulip is a perennial, bulbous plant with showy flowers in the genus Tulipa, which comprises 109 species and belongs to the family Liliaceae. The tulip's centre of diversity is in the Pamir, Hindu Kush, and Tien Shan mountains. Most of the tulips that will be seen around the UK are self-coloured in lovely bright colours like yellows and reds. Here we can see a beautiful varigated tulip head, fully opened.
